Catfish Hunter pitched a perfect game, won twenty or more games for five straight seasons, and was the ace on seven division champions, six A.L. champions, and five World Series champions. This game worn Catfish Hunter warm-up jacket presents a time capsule right into the early 1970's and the exciting Oakland A teams!

Hunter led the Oakland Athletics to three consecutive World Series championships. It was also in 1974 that A’s owner Charlie Finley reneged on his agreement to pay Hunter deferred annuities which resulted in him being declared a free agent. With every Major League team (with the exception of the Giants) bidding for his services, he became baseball’s first multi-million-dollar free agent, with a new $3.2 million dollar contract over five years with the New York Yankees on New Year’s Eve.

The inside tag features "Wilson" manufacturer’s tag. Below are three additional labels including the [size] “44”, [year] 1974 and wash instructions. His jersey number “27” is in on right sleeve. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us game-used. His name “HUNTER” is also on the back sewn on in solid white. Overall, shows great use from the HOFer who seemed to always win.

This jacket also comes with a LOA directly from his Son who attests this was worn from his father and maintained in his family until now.
